With eyes pressed shut Oracle utters disturbing forecast/admonition:
“Hot wind blows, fanning flames of discontent,
Orwellian tableau turns primitive,
Torched landscape gives rise to Bedouin tents.
Each to his own, fair superheroine,
Now is the time for guilty to repent.”
Superheroine Virtue digests words, makes no response. “The economic and moral underpinnings of America are about to collapse.” Oracle elaborates. “We’ve discussed this before. I know you have an affection for the Americans but many of them, especially the most unscrupulous, are doomed. The deities hath hoten: do not interfere with the disintegration of their nation – let it progress naturally. Any meddling on your part will disrupt this organic process and result in dire consequence to your own physical well-being. Remember, when evil can no longer feed on innocence it must consume itself.”
Just two weeks later Virtue catches Mistress Jewell – one of the starkest embodiments of American evil – in the commission of a crime. Join our fair-haired superheroine as she disregards Oracle’s warning and engages in a shocking encounter with the Mistress of Evil herself, Jewell Marceau..
